We went to WinCo Sunday night around 8:45. We didn’t know what awaited us but we needed supplies for Taco Night (carne asada this week).
To our shock, there was maybe 20 other people there. The staff looked like they all had been there for 24 hours (and were understandably, but unusually ... unpleasant) . But the shelves were bountiful. They were out of the usual items though: paper towels, rice, bulk-anything, sanitizer, wipes, ramen, and all forms of handsoap.
Except, farrrrrrr up high on a lonely shelf, pushed against the deodorant wall, was a lonesome looking bottle .....
... I SEENT it! And I dun bought it. The last hand soap of any kind in the entire store And we were pretty much out too...
There was also toilet paper, but I didn’t buy any. I don’t know if I’ll regret that, but we have a 12-pack I bought last month and it feels like it will last a while longer. I did fuck up because I forgot to buy milk, but that no longer seems to be a hoarded item. And screw whoever cleared out my Maruchan Roast Beef Top Ramen packs. I only wanted two! TWO, DAMMIT. In all seriousness, I have a feeling that ramen will be in high demand for a long while, because people are losing/have lost their livelihoods and need a cheap meal that requires minimal labor.
This all being a stark contrast to my previous WinCo misadventure, where we walked out defeated with only the last bag of jasmine rice and six cans of various beans...
How are you all holding up supply-wise (or accessibility to said suppplies... wise...)?

I bought a 12 pack of toilet paper a couple weeks ago when I heard places were getting cleaned out because I was down to 4 rolls. Other than not being able to really find chicken, things are pretty normal for me.

I was to the local grocery Saturday and I always try to project a pleasant air when I’m in stores as I worked in one in high school. The guy at the deli counter was very pleasant and chatty and the checkout woman was nice also. Helps I had my adorable 3-yo boy with who was unusually well behaved.

Yep, across the p ond, TP’s going like hot cakes. We were already properly stocked before all this went down (Lidl always has once per 2 months a special discount day for TP, 24 rolls for 12 euros or something, so we were already good on TP).
I had a problem, a week ago, in finding kitchen roll anywhere, in fact, as soon as they stocked up on it, it disappeared again. I managed to, just like you, snag the last 2 rolls that were left.

Were they out of dish soap? If it’s good enough for baby ducks, it’s good enough for me.
In all seriousness, I wash my hands exclusively with Dawn dish soap. You know, the blue one. It does dry out my skin a bit, but it gets any grime and grease off with ease. To me, that’s reassuring that it’s removing any virus or bacteria that’s on there, since it’s the mechanical disturbance that does it. As for the dryness, I also own lotion.

No bar soap available either? We haven’t had any ramen in the store since the Great Hoarding began.

Some of our stores seem to be slowly getting back to a bit of normalcy. It helps that some are not only posting limits of what you can buy of certain products, but they’re actually enforcing it.
My wife went to Target this weekend and found toilet paper, paper towels, and hand soap. Good timing on the hand soap because we had just finished the refill container we had and weren’t using one of our bathrooms due to not having soap.
Hand sanitizer is still non-existent. I don’t need any but check out of curiosity. I have a jumbo container that I use to refill my travel size container, and it’s still over half full.
We are almost out of Lysol spray and haven’t seen it anywhere yet.

Myers is the jam! Are you near a heavily hit region? I’m outside of Philadelphia and everything is available for the most part. There are limits on things but its all available including TP.
However, we are still working off of the stock we had before this mess. We have a smol child so the paper products are plentiful. We are also pretty conscious about waste. My wife and our mini farm have been really good influences on me/us .
We have chickens, a duck, and my wife grows lots of things. Times like these I can see why my wife wants to eventually be self sustaining or close to it. I will probably go for a delivery service if we need additional groceries until this noise is over.

We hit up Safeway Saturday morning and it was creepy. Almost no one there. Staff had masks and gloves on and there were large red lanes and spaces marked out on the ground in tape. You could tell the checkers and baggers were exhausted and hating life. But we’re stocked up!

Our store’s inventory was more or less back to normal the other day. My wife was able to buy all of the following in reasonable quantities, all of which have been hit-or-miss lately :
eggs
milk
toilet paper
mac & cheese
cheerios
oatmeal
ground beef
vegetable oil
We didn’t need soap or any cleaning products, but those are still pretty thin I guess.

A friend surprised me with a TP delivery, so I’m good. Have plenty of everything else.

My house is well stocked with food, but running low on TP. We are down to about a dozen rolls and we’re rather frustrated with not being able to get the usual Costco stuff, but we also have a few fallback options (raid the in-law’s office supply of TP, contact friends that will drop us a portion of a pack, etc). We usually eat a lot of fresh stuff, which is also the most available at stores, though some has grown ridiculously expensive lately (like blueberries)... Our store is almost back to normal after the overstocking that some people did, so that’s also hopeful. They are apparently rationing TP out onto the store shelves because people are still buying too much of it...
I’m also pretty well stocked with propane, so I’d say “come over, we could have a barbecue!”, but you know, social distancing and all that. Not sure what your wife does, but we lack friends that are low-risk at this point (in addition to friends in general, but that’s the PNW for you). We’re currently healthy and avoiding anyone with even slight risk (like the
family where the husband works in an essential field service job that requires him to go places and do stuff,
the family where the wife is a nurse, and my wife’s parents because they have been going to work
).

He’s in Everett, which is where the first case in the US was diagnosed and that’s in the Seattle metro area , which is the earliest hard-hit region .

I found the last bottle of Campari at my local grocery store hiding behind the A perol, so, feeling similarly successful. At least now I can have a negroni at Zoom virtual happy hour....sigh.
